Local know-how
Auburn: a hill town on I-80
Auburn grew up in the Gold Rush, and Old Town still climbs steep streets below the domed courthouse. For an airport trip that means a short drive to I-80 and then a long descent into the valley.
In winter, storms that close the higher passes can bring rain and fog to the foothills too; we keep an eye on conditions and allow extra time when needed.
Coming home from SMF, the climb back up I-80 is quieter after the evening commute — late arrivals are an easy drive.
